What is Tool Kit Therapy?

My Approach
Finding the right therapist for you or your family is important. One size does not fit all. With that in mind I offer a free 15 minute consultation. It’s a chance to get to know each other a little bit, to make sure we are the right fit.
If we are happy, we can book in some sessions. Sessions are usually weekly but depending on you, the problems you are experiencing and the stage you are at, therapy can either last a few sessions or for much longer periods. Depending on what you can commit too, I can adapt the tools we use to help you in a way that fits in with you and your family.
Learning to ride a bike
When you learnt to ride a bike, you didn’t just get on one and cycle off into the sunset did you? No. Firstly you needed the tools, i.e. the bike, then it probably took somebody to teach you, time, practice, a little bit more practice, a bit of trial and error to see what worked for you until it became second nature and you didn’t even have to think about how to ride your bike any longer. Therapy is just the same, it takes the right tools, practice and a bit of time.

There is no judgement in my sessions, there are no right or wrong answers. Everything is confidential (there are some small legal exceptions to this see T’s & C’s) but we will find the right tool kit for you to use to move forward and to be the best version of your own unique self.
I use a range of methods, including CBT, Play therapy and person centred and
psychodynamic counselling technique and will adapt each session to fit your needs.
The experiences we have through what we hear, see, touch, taste and smell all affect our thoughts, these in tern affect our feelings which influences our behaviours.
Now here is the interesting bit. If we have negative experiences, we develop negative thoughts, resulting in negative feelings and negative behaviours. Our negative behaviours (such as anxiety) then feed back into out negative thoughts.
If we can address the our thoughts and turn them into positives ones then the result is positive feelings and behaviours.
