Terms & Conditions
1. We agree to work together to address the issues presented by you and /or your child, however, because of the individual nature of the treatment changes may be swift or slower depending on many factors, such as complexity, personal motivation and how ambiguous the goals are. No guarantee of a cure can be given.
2. Sessions will last up to 50 or 90 minutes depending of the consultation booked. Predicted length of treatment will be discussed openly and updated as treatment continues. Regular reviews will take place.
3. Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice, unless in exceptional circumstances will result in you being liable for the cost of the missed session. Cancelation with less than 48hrs notice will incur a £40 fee.
4. Full Payment is due 48 hrs before the session is due to start.
5. Treatment will only occur during arranged sessions and contact between our sessions will be limited to telephone , text or email between the hours of 9.30 and 17.00. I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible but I may be with other clients.
6. Email and text should only be used for arranging and altering appointment. Anything of a therapeutic nature will be noted but then deleted to maintain confidentiality.
7. Any anti-social behaviour by you / or your child will result in the immediate termination of treatment with no refund.
8. Treatment requires effort and commitment by the client. “Tasks” may be set between sessions in order to get the best possible outcome. Prioritising sessions and turning up to them is vital for a successful outcome.
9. I will ensure that your confidentiality will be maintained in all but the most exceptional circumstances and all information collected during the sessions will be protected at all times. Information will only be disclosed under a Court Order (civil, criminal or coroner’s Court) or where not to disclose would cause danger or serious harm to yourself or others. Information may also be shared with an NHS medical practitioner or other Health Professional, but only with your written agreement.
10. No notes are kept online and all documents are stored in a locked cupboard. I am the only key holder for this cupboard. Notes will be anonymised. Notes will be kept for 7 years after therapy has finished. This is required by law.
11. There may be slight risks associated with any psychological services. During the process of treatment, there may be reason to review some unpleasant memories (albeit it in the most sensitive of ways) or to experience some uncomfortable emotions. It is acknowledged that making personal changes in behaviour, thinking and emotions through talking therapies, sometimes requires learning by trial and error and some confusion or setbacks in the process may occur, this if often just part of the process. You (the Client) acknowledge and agree to accept these potential risks.
12. You should seek the advice from your doctor before commencing any treatment if you have any questions related to your mental or physical health, physical fitness, or medical conditions. It is not recommended that you stop or alter any treatment you are currently receiving without prior consent from your doctor or mental health advisor.
13. You may be asked to gain written GP consent before treatment can start. This to make sure nothing medical is being masked by your symptoms and to protect both parties.
14. Please be open and honest, if you have any concerns at any point please let me know.
15. Complaints should be raised with myself first. If a successful resolution is not reached you may contact my regulatory body. I am a member of the National Counselling Society and am obliged to comply with the Bye Laws and Codes of Ethics. The National Counselling Society also provide a complaint and disciplinary procedure and a copy of

16. I have an obligation under my membership of the Society to continue my professional learning and development and therefore I may share case histories with my Supervisor. All information will be anonymous and this will not be a breach of professional confidentiality.
17. I will maintain my DBS check, insurance and membership to the relevant governing bodies.
18. If we meet unexpectedly outside our sessions, I will not initiate a greeting, unless you do so initially. This is to maintain confidentiality as you may be with somebody you do not wish to disclose the nature of our relationship too. If you do initiate a greeting, it will be brief and general in nature.
